4 types of packaging

Published by Appetite Creative

The demand for packaging has been increasing recently. Companies know that the first interaction their clients will have with their products is thru packaging, so the demand for eye-catching, useful and sustainable packaging is going up every year. Packaging is fundamental to drawing customers' attention; therefore, it is a decisive part of the purchase decision.

There are four different types of packaging. The importance of packaging Packaging protects the product from breakage and damage. The most common packaging products are boxes, cartons, cans, bottles, bags, envelopes, wrappers, and containers. As demand for packaging increased over time, many companies began to use packaging to differentiate themselves from competitors. Creative and unique packaging helps attract the consumer's attention. Still, it was not until the end of world war II that packaging started to be used globally for branding purposes and not only to protect the product.

Different packaging methods

Paperboard boxes:

One of the most frequently used types of packaging is paperboard boxes. They keep products safe, it's a sustainable material, and are less expensive. It also allows for easy identification of products during shipping and cheap printing and personalisation.

Anti-corrosive Packaging:

It is to protect metal surfaces from corrosion in high-risk environments. Anti-corrosive packaging is materials examples are the VCI bubble wrap or paper to ensure that different climates do not damage the goods inside. Furthermore, this packaging method helps export goods over long distances overseas or for long-term storage.

Plastics Packaging:

It is used to package both fragile and non-perishable products. Plastic-containing materials and products are often wrapped in them. Plastic packaging companies recycle waste and scraps for reuse in their facilities or alternative uses after their first life. This packaging protects goods with a short shelf life against climatic conditions and avoids malfunction or destruction. No air or dust can get into the goods, but it allows us to see the product inside, which is excellent for marketing purposes. In addition to protection, plastic packaging is also very cost-effective, but it's not a sustainable product.

Bottle and glass Jars:

The benefit of using glass is that consumers easily identify the products inside, thanks to its translucid characteristics. In addition, it enhances the product's aesthetic appeal, and they are easy to stack and store, making them well-suited for shipping purposes. Glass also protects products from air, extending their lifetime without affecting their flavour or colour in the long run.

Connected Packaging

A great way to distinguish your company from others and to provide your customers with more information about your product is to add a QR code to your packaging. Such a code can be easily printed for each type of packaging. Connected packaging helps companies connect with their customers with engaging, educational and fun digital experiences catered to their likes and needs. Consumers can learn more about the brand and build a better bond thru gamification, videos, promotions and more.

With connected packaging, brands can transform their package into interactive media channels with your customers as long as they have the product with them or at their house. This type of promotion or marketing is highly accessible and more affordable than traditional media channels like TV, radio, and printed media.
